Amanda Brugel

(February 27th of 2010 to Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a quiet community located on that part of the island of Montreal known as"the West Island. People unfamiliar with the term often think that it's an island that's to the west of Montreal but in fact it's a part of the city that's west. West Island is home to everything from Lachine west to the city of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel's birthplace is frequently cited, however her short time in the city did not last long. Brugel lived in Courtice near Oshawa Ontario. She aspired to be a professional dancer but due to an explosive expansion, she surpassed every dance partner she met. In an article in the Toronto Star she admitted In heels, I'm 6 feet one inch. The moment I outgrew the size of my male companion, I stopped. Many dancers make the transition to acting. In the case of Bruce, it was her drama teacher who encouraged her in that direction. A teacher suggested that she try out for a school production. She auditioned and eventually got the role of the main character of Anne of Green Gables. It led to a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theatre Program and graduated with the Bachelor in Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. Since then, Brugel's been involved in more than 60 shows, big and small. The most notable was when she landed Rita's role in The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the only Canadian cast member in the season 1 of the series and only seen occasionally.
